Ángel is both an adult and peadiatric epileptologist and neurologist from Vithas Madrid La Milagrosa University Hospital and is the director of Vithas Madrid Neurology Institute, Spain. Dedicated to the care of people with complex epilepsies, Ángel delves into the characteristics and causes of a person’s epileptic seizures, movement disorders, mental health conditions, sleep disorders, intellectual disability, and cognitive dysfunction, to select for them the best treatments.
A firm believer in precision medicine, Ángel specialises in the interpretation of prolonged video-EEG, advanced neuroimaging (magnetic resonance), and neurogenetics, to guide treatments and reverse the the trend of "trial and error" when it comes to treatments.
Ángel is an expert in minimally invasive surgeries such as laser thermocoagulation as well as the development of new therapies and clinical trials.
Ángel is a pioneer when it comes to genetic epilepsies and other neurological diseases, participating in numerous international consortia. He is a collaborating professor at various national and international universities and is an active collaborator with foundations and patient groups; and is on the board of the scientific committee of multiple associations.
